NaNoWriMo

Sun Nov 8, 2009, 11:53 AM
So, I hadn't heard of NaNoWriMo until like maybe yesterday.
So I started up. Needless to say, I'm behind like crazy. But it'll be fun, even if I don't finish in time.

if you check, all the drawings and tomfoolery from my gallery are stored away

that is to say, tbh they're kind of embarassing

anyways, look forward to some replacements in the future
though, I don't know how far into the future

and more tbh, I'll most likely be writing a lot more these days

anyways, umm...yeah. I guess that doesn't really say anything...at all...

Yeah.

so, I haven't done anything in a while

that's about it. I've actually been taking a drawing course over the summer, and once I get stuff back I'll try to upload it. Some of it's oversized tho, and I've never uploaded those...I guess I could take a picture and upload that...but...I'unno

writing-wise, I've been kind of busy. Taking a Speech course and an English course, too, this summer.

Basically, any time I can find, my brain is mostly dead anyways.

Anyways, a few minutes ago I'd been browsing my favorites, and decided to command you all to check them out. There are some amazing artists in there that deserve more attention! Also, they've probably grown irritated of logging in and seeing that some random schmuck fav'd like five of their pics outta nowhere...so I think they should get something out of it ^_^; or maybe I'm thinking too much

either way, check 'em out instead of wasting time on me

I'll come back someday

maybe

Behold! Another of my glorious IDEAS!

and, yet again, I have FULL intention of following through
however, this is a grand portfolio idea!
As opposed to a regular portfolio, I figured I would make a giant narrative as my portfolio, featuring diverse pages and fulfilling requirements of my targeted schools.
And as I have spied this great goal and I move to advance, alas, I have reached a fork in the road! And now, I sit and ponder my position carefully...
This issue is in regards to language.
I believe that the story is most efficient in Japanese. Some of the phrases, which I have decided are important to the overall effectiveness, are too cumbersome in the English language and are actually more commonplace in the Japanese language. That said, it would be difficult to share the project with others if they can't even understand, and it would be dangerous to assume that the one evaluating my portfolio would be fluent in Japanese. My thoughts have arrived me at three options.

1) Write it in Japanese. I care too much about the piece to sacrifice its effectiveness for the comfort of one person.

2) Write it in English. While it may be effective to myself and other Japanese-speakers, it is still lost on those whose opinions are important at the time. While the cumbersome dialect would be a problem, it may be an even bigger burden if she cannot understand it at all.

3) Write it in both. Most of the dialogue can be done in English, and all of it in the Roman alphabet, and I can leave key-phrases in Japanese (with notations to define the phrases). While it may be awkward (or even shamefully weeaboo) for her to read both languages, the dialogue would be readable and still manage to retain some of its efficiency.

Please, let me know what you think and why. I've put quite a bit of thought into this, as well, and to be honest I'm leaning towards options 1 & 2. Don't be afraid, just say what you think and be sure to explain yourself.

Thanks ahead of time!

Your truly...
